Vegetable Fibers (Rayon)
Match the shade to the hair around your thinning area, looking at the roots in daylight rather than the ends. We make Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown and Light Brown. If you are between two shades, choose the darker one; a slightly darker shade reads as shadow and looks natural, while a lighter one shows. Please don’t mix shades in one application. There is no grey shade, so grey or salt-and-pepper hair suits Black or Dark Brown best.
A 10 g canister gives about 15 applications, 15 g about 22, 25 g about 37 and 40 g about 60. These figures assume a typical crown or parting; a large area or a heavy hand uses more. The 10 g pack comes in a black canister and the 15, 25 and 40 g packs come in silver canisters. If you are testing a shade, start with 10 g, then move up once you know it matches.
They are plant-based rayon, not keratin, cut to a length of 0.3–0.5 mm in Japan. Rayon is a fiber made from plant cellulose, which carries a natural static charge. That charge makes each fiber cling to your existing hair, so the strands look thicker and the scalp shows less. The fibers sit on the hair rather than on the skin, and they wash out with regular shampoo at the end of the day.
Fibers need existing hair to cling to, even if it is short or fine. On a thin crown or a receding hairline with some hair left, they fill the gaps well. On fully bare, shiny skin there is nothing for them to hold on to, so they won’t look natural there. Fibers are cosmetic: they cover thinning but do not grow hair. If your hair loss is sudden, patchy or painful, see a dermatologist.
Wash your hair with regular shampoo and the fibers come out in one wash, with no special remover needed. We suggest washing them out before bed. If you do sleep with fibers in, a few may transfer to the pillow, so a towel over the pillowcase helps. Avoid rubbing your hair hard with a towel or brushing the treated area through the day, as friction loosens fibers faster than wind does.
